Different criteria for filling a vacancy is used depending on the length of term remaining in the vacancy. If a term has longer than one year left, an appointment is made by the board to fill the vacancy until the next election year when a special election is held to fill the partial term of the vacancy. Trista Robischon was elected to the board in November of 2009 and took office in January of 2010. Board terms are for four years. At the next election for school board members, a special election will be held along with the general election to fill the remainder of her term. The general election, held in conjunction with the special election, will be to elect four board members who have reached the end of their current term. |
