New Prague Schools Invite Parents to "Say Yes to No" Local Leaders Join Statewide Movement for Successful and Self-Disciplined Children The New Prague Area Schools, led by principals and partnering with Community Education, have joined the rapidly growing statewide movement formed around the book No: Why Kids-of All Ages-Need to Hear It and Ways Parents Can Say It by Dr. David Walsh. The Say Yes to No grassroots campaign and movement is being endorsed by leading education and parent groups across Minnesota. It emphasizes self-discipline as the most important life skill parents and educational leaders can instill in children. The Say Yes to No campaign is based on the book; however, New Prague School Principals will host discussions regarding this book during January PAC meetings in each individual building. Community members are invited to form their own reading groups. "Success can be defined in many ways," said Dr. Walsh, author of the book. "Say Yes to No" defines successful children of all ages as those who are self-reliant and know where the parental boundaries are. Each of the schools in the New Prague School District has Dr. Walsh's book available for purchase at the cost of $7.00 each. Parent can contact the District Web site for information regarding this community initiative. Area libraries are hosting two individual night discussions on the following dates: • MEETING CANCELLED at Elko New Market Library • Thursday, March 13 at 7:00 at New Prague Library Registration for the library events begins February 5 at www.melsa.org. Friends of the Library will donate copies of Dr. Walsh's book to the first 10 people registered at each discussion group. |
