The information from the July 16, 2007 New Prague Area Schools board meeting appeared incorrectly in the New Prague Times July 19 but has since been corrected on the newspaper website. On November 6, 2007, New Prague Area School District residents will be voting on an operating referendum that would replace the current 2003 levy which expires at the end of the upcoming school year. The new levy would have a tax-increase impact of $13.17 PER MONTH on the house with a $250,000 tax valuation base. Historically, the initial tax impact has decreased over time as the overall base of district-wide property valuations has grown. That growth is reflected in the 700-student increase over the past four years, resulting in the opening of two new elementary schools and an expansion of the high school. The updated levy is being asked to help maintain operations at the continuing new level of growth and to strengthen efforts to reach aggressive academic achievement goals. |
