Rouse named Superintendent
The New Prague School Board offered the position of Superintendent to Jim Rouse at their meeting this evening. Mr. Rouse accepted the position.

Following the call to order at the January 18, 2007 School Board Reorganization meeting, a request to modify the agenda was made to move the Superintendent Search to the beginning of the agenda. The amended agenda was approved followed by Vice Chair Tom Fadden making a motion to eliminate or abolish the search for a new superintendent. Motion was seconded and approved. Board Member Reed then made the motion to act on the Superintendent position offering the position of Superintendent to Jim Rouse. Motion was seconded by Beckius and the board unanimously approved the hiring of Jim Rouse as Superintendent of New Prague Area Schools. Details of the contract will be worked out at a later date. Mr. Rouse requested to address the board thanking the school board, the community, friends and media for their support. Most of all, he thanked his wife Nancy, his three children and his grandchildren for their encouragement, prayers and sacrifices which have helped bridge the distance over which they have been separated these past few months.

Jim continued "I am honored to accept this offer of a full renewable contract and the title along with the responsibility of being your school superintendent. New Prague has a very fine educational tradition and current program—but no program that wants to be the best can afford to rest on its laurels—we need to work together to build our schools into what we want them to be tomorrow so that our children will always graduate from here well-equipped with values, knowledge, work ethic and skills to serve the needs of a fast-changing and complex world.

To that end, for the kids, I pledge my continuing collaborative efforts alongside and in a leadership role with all of the educational resources within our schools and throughout our community. Thank you.
