The top 16 students missed three or fewer questions on screening test with one student getting 100%. The top 16 students were then invited to participate in the Middle School's Bee on January 5, 2006. Students studied for the geography bee with resources from the National Geographic Study Corner. These resources included sample questions, on-line games and blank maps. Forteen students then competed in the school bee. The competition consisted of 7 rounds. The top ten competitors then moved onto a final round. The top three students received plaques, and the top winner also received a metal. The top student will also take a written test to see if he/she qualifies for the state level of competition. 1st Place=Mike Boerner 2nd Place=David Puente 3rd Place= Ryan Fredrickson General information about the National Geography Bee can be found at www.nationalgeographic.com/geobee |
