As a result of our recent Security Assessment that was completed last summer, we are going to be changing our procedures for allowing visitors into our buildings throughout the school day. We are currently in the process of installing the Aiphone System throughout the district. Once the new installations are completed, we will require all doors to be locked after the initial bus and parent drop offs in the morning. The Aiphone system will require all visitors to ring a buzzer located on an outside station near the front entrance to the building. There will be a remote monitor base station located within the office for your clerical staff to view and communicate with the person attempting to gain access to the building. At that point the visitor should be directed to the office and will be required to show a picture ID and be expected to sign in. The ID will be held by the office staff until the end of the visit. WE WILL NO LONGER BE ISSUING THE RED VISITOR STICKERS. These will be replaced with a color coded visitor pass with a matching color coded lanyard which they will be required to wear while in the building. Each building will have a different assigned color. This will eliminate any cross visiting that may occur between buildings. The visitor will be required to sign out and return the lanyard at the conclusion of their visit. At that time their picture ID will be returned to them. I will be delivering the new lanyards at the end of this week. Please know that I understand that this a big change. I would like to thank everyone in advance for their full cooperation. Please call with any questions. Thanks! Craig Most Buildings and Grounds/Transportation Director New Prague Area Schools 952-758-1482 cmost@np.k12.mn.us |
