Seventh grade science teacher Deb Trewartha and media specialist Jeanne LaMoore organized the Book Club program, basing it on a similar program at Mankato's Dakota Meadows MS. Students signed up to be in a group, got a copy of the book to read, and met with their group approximately a month later. Juice and granola bars, purchased with money from Boxtops for Education, were served at the discussion meetings. The multiple copies of books were purchased primarily with money from a grant given by MVEC. Students and teachers gave positive feedback on the Book Club discussions. |
