Presently there are no reported cases of the swine flu in Minnesota. Please note there is no need to be alarmed, this is being communicated to you for informational purposes and to inform you of steps the school district is taking.

The swine flu is a respiratory disease and symptoms are similar to the regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Swine flu is spread mainly from person to person through coughing or sneezing. Sometimes people may become infected by touching something with flu viruses on it and then touching their mouth or nose.

The most important way to prevent the spread of infection is to wash your hands and cover your coughs and sneezes.

  1. The school is monitoring the recent swine flu outbreak. No cases have been reported in Minnesota. We are in contact with the Scott County Public Health Department and also the MN. Department of Education and will be notified if there is any reason for additional precautions.

  2. School Health Services staff continually monitor student health and look for patterns in absences. If any patterns arise the appropriate people will be notified. Presently we have not seen any unusual patterns in absences or many children sick with symptoms of respiratory flu.

  3. If any member of your family comes down with flu-like symptoms, check with your family physician for further information.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Cheryl Malecha at 952-758-1760 or Mr. Craig Menozzi at 952-758-1701
