Cathy Ilkka to receive The FOX 9 Super Scientist Award.
Congratulations to Cathy Ilkka who was notified yesterday that she has been selected to receive The FOX 9 Super Scientist Award. Cathy received a call yesterday from Meghan Flaagan, Community Services Coordinator/Producer from Fox 9 KMSP/My 29 TV in Eden Prairie. She was informed that she is one of nine teachers statewide that will receive the award. The award recognizes area educators who are inspiring students in science, technology, engineering, or math. Along with the honor, Cathy will also receive a check for $900.00. Cathy will also be recognized on FOX 9 and My 29. FOX 9 will be featuring all nine of the Super Scientists in a thirty minute special that will be aired throughout the fall and winter. The first two broadcasts of the FOX 9 Science Special are scheduled for Saturday, October 8th from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on FOX 9 KMSP and Sunday, October 9th from 9 - 9:30 a.m. on My 29 WFTC. In addition, each Super Scientist winner will have 30 minutes to demonstrate one of their favorite experiments or activities at FOX 9's Girls & Science at the Science Museum of Minnesota between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15th.
