December 12, 2012 Board Meeting Agenda Items
The last school board meeting for the 2011 year will be held on Monday, December 12th. Board meetings are held in the School Board Chambers located at 410 Central Ave No. Meeting begins at 6:30 pm.

One of the items on the agenda is the presentation of the annual Truth in Taxation notice to local tax payers. Changes have been made in the way information is given to the public which allows the district to present the Truth in Taxation information during a regular meeting. The public will be given an opportunity to make comment on the presentation at the meeting. Also on the agenda will be a report on the updated budget and the annual Audit Report given by a representative of Larsen, Allen, LLP.

New Prague Area Schools is considering the possibility of starting an Alternative Learning Center within our district. As a member of the Carver/Scott Cooperative, we have had access to an ALC for our students. Carver Scott and MRVSEC (Minnesota River Valley Special Education Coop) are in the midst of merging the two cooperatives. As part of this merger, the ALC at Lydia will be closed. Prior Lake started their own ALC three years ago. Chaska will be starting their program in 2012/13. Shakopee is looking to start their own. Waconia will take over the Carver/Scott ALC in their community. The result of this is we will not have a close Alternative Learning Center for our students, thus we are exploring the options to house our own program. A report on the status of this study is also on the agenda.

Following the information part of the meeting, approval is being requested for Certification of the Audit, Levy Certification and the updated budget.
