Middle School students turn up the heat

Earth science students from New Prague Area Middle School's 8th grade da Vinci house recently got as lesson in the transfer on energy and solar power. Students were instructed to create solar ovens which were to be used to try and heat up food items in a specific period of time. The students placed their ovens outside and then change a variable after 45 minutes, trying to get the hottest temperature of the class. Some of the food items trying to be "cooked" included smores, hotdogs and cheese on nachos. The student with the highest measured temperature was Nicci Malecha, who's over reached 101 degrees Celsius. Zac Linehan was second (86) followed by Travis Duede (82) and Isaac Cross (75). Recognition also went to students for over creativity. Will Mayer, Ashley Morris, Preston Tomlinson and Noah Mooney earned those awards.
