Technology Outreach Program

Donate A Used Computer To The New Prague Technology Outreach Program

How the program works:
  • Used computers are donated to middle and high school students without a home computer so they have something to use for schoolwork.
  • Is only for students of New Prague Schools (open-enrollment is OK).
  • Students in need should apply for a computer at their school guidance office.
  • Selection of recipients will be based on availability of computers, number of school-age siblings, and family income.

How to donate a computer:
  • Call Angie Erickson 758-1214 (high school) or Julie Holgate 758-1412 (middle school) for details.
  • Take Computer and any additional parts to the specified drop off location (not the school).
  • Pay a fee of $50 to cover the cost of refurbishing the computer. This includes a secure hard-drive format/delete and any maintenance or disposal if computer doesn't work (Refurbishing of computers takes place at a local business in New Prague).
  • Receive a receipt for your donation that is tax deductible.
  • The school guidance offices will then complete the process of identifying a recipient.

Details about the technology:
  • Complete computers with mouse, keyboard, monitor, printer, and licensed software CD's together work best for donation program.
  • Donated Computers that meet the following minimum requirements work best for the donation program:
    • Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista
    • Licensed Operating System CD's and License Keys
    • Pentium III or AMD Athlon Processor
    • 256MB Memory
    • 20GB Hard Drive
  • Open Office may be installed as a replacement program for Microsoft Office which would be deleted during the hard drive "cleaning".
  • Open Office is compatible with the programs that students use at school for writing "Word" documents or "Excel" spreadsheets or "Power Point".
