Dear New Prague Parents of Grades 6-9-12th Grade Students: The seventh administration of the Minnesota Student Survey will happen in spring 2007 (the preferred administration window is February 15 to April 15th). The Minnesota Student Survey (MSS) was developed as a way to monitor priority risk and protective behaviors among students. The survey is voluntary, confidential and anonymous on the part of students and asks questions about tobacco, alcohol and other drug use and attitudes, as well as sexual behaviors (Gr 9 & 12 only), dietary behaviors, physical activity, and unintentional injuries and violence. This survey comes under student privacy laws and will be used as an internal educational and counseling tool. No parent or staff member will ever see individual student information. The survey, given over time, helps counseling staff set a baseline and then measure progress in leading students to more positive behavioral choices. For more information about MSS 07, previous MSS, and PPRA, go to: Minnesota Student Survey. For students to participate in the survey, parent approval is required. We will send a letter after the holidays asking for your support of this very important and helpful process. In the meantime, we invite you to submit input to the feedback@np.k12.mn.us contact link on this district website. Please limit your comments to 25 words so we can summarize them quickly if a large number of parents respond, and please let us know your thoughts by January 4 so we can keep moving ahead in a timely way. Thanks, and have a wonderful Christmas and New Year's time with your family and friends. Jim Rouse |
