Four Trojans headed to State Wrestling Meet
A pair of seniors and a pair of sophomores will represent New Prague this week in the class "AA" state wrestling tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Seniors Eric Olson (152#) and Jake Schoenecker (215#), along with sophomores Travis Rutt (135#) and Caleb Lines (160#) earned their way through the section tournament last week. Rutt (39-3) faces Grand Meadow's junior Josh Bain (34-8) in the opening round; Olson (34-7) faces Minnewaska senior Colin Cihlar (31-9); Lines (32-8) faces Annandale junior Tyler Wadman (22-15) and Schoenecker (26-6) faces Byron senior Kevin Loge (32-7). The opening round is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the Minnesota State High School League website. Class "AA" individuals compete every day, leading up to the championship matches set for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. TICKETS FOR THE EVENT ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL AND MUST BE PURCHASED AT THE EVENT.
