Deutsch places high at State
New Prague junior Melanie Deutsch had a successful run in last Saturday's class "A" state gymnastics meet at the Roy Wilkens Auditorium in St. Paul. Deutsch, who competed in the event a year ago, finished in the top-6 in four categories, including the all-around. She posted a score of 37.625 in the all-around, which included a fourth place finish in the floor exercise (9.525); fifth place on the uneven bars (9.375) and sixth place on the balance beam (9.325). New Prague sophomore Brittany Ellanson finished 17th in the all-around (35.7), including 16th on the uneven bars (8.8) and 32nd on the vault (8.675). Eighth grader Jessica Hoffman finished 26th on the balance beam (8.4).
